Luckily the waveform display is so great, I was able to mix without headphones. I stepped on my headphone cable and broke the headphone jack internally on my very first gig. Now, if I trip over the cable, it just unplugs. Awesome unit, great, rock solid software. It is a bit fragile though. I have since replaced the jack with a short pigtail cable connected to an in-line jack.
Its very responsive, laid out well and is probably one of the best alternatives for those not wanting to get into CDJs. Its easy to setup, customize and organize your playlists - It even reads iTunes playlists.
With a little bit of time and familiarity though you learn to dance a bit more carefully around these controls. All in all a great dj setup that is able to compete for a relatively low price. There is no ability to do 88.2khz audio output as of yet.
The built in effects are good utility effects but you also have the ability to run any VST plugin effexts you may have. There are a couple things that I was a bit disappointed about but are not deal breakers. This means its very easy to bump them and maybe knock a track out of sync or accidentally slam or drop the volume of a track.
The more I use the Xponent/Torq setup, the more I love it. It feels more natural than laptop DJ control surface setups if you are a DJ coming from CD player or even vinyl decks.
Also while I like that the crossfader is silky smooth, the pitch and volume faders are also light and smooth.
I have always wanted to DJ but never had the guts to purchase the big turntables. For the price of this machine others cant compare.
I will be posting youtube videos of using the device so look me up. It can be buggy sometimes but i guess it all depends on the pc processor you have.
The torq software is also pretty good. It is easy to use, the software is easy to navigate.
This piece of equipment does it all. I came across xponent afterdoing many reviews.
I have no complaints about this thing.
I even bought 2 tech 1200's and a Rane mixer to be taken more "seriously," but I tend to use the X more. The Xponent has effects and its basically like having two CDJ's and a mixer. If your looking to get into DJing, this is the item to buy. Compared to vestax vci300 @ like 8 or 900. I have had this for over a year with no problems.
the sliders could be a little heavier but its overall a nice sturdy midi. I can't get it to link to ableton so far. The xponent is a great piece of hardware. a few little things tweaky about it. I'm extremely happy with the xponent.
